Cool, I thought that might have been the case, but wasn't sure as you have them posted under digital art rather than under drawings or something.
The sheer size of the images makes them difficult to view on a regular (or less than regular!) display, and web browsers don't do a nice job of scaling them down to fit on the screen - unless you want people to be printing them out (nice hi resolution!), maybe submit them scaled down nicely (with sharpening or whatever at the final resolution) for people to look at on their computer screen.
I don't know how the "Prints" section of dA works - maybe you can have the hi-res reserved for the print service and have a screen-res version for screen viewing.
